This guitar has been with me since 1978 and has been my companion in my travels and experiences. It was built by the Spanish lutist Manuel Rodríguez (1926-2008), being a present from my mother on completing my advanced-level studies at the Municipal Music Conservatory of Barcelona. I spoke to Señor Rodríguez, asking him to build this instrument for me with all his expertise and affection, to which he kindly agreed. Since then we have visited places all around the world. We have crossed the African savanna, the Amazon, the Sahara desert, the Caribbean sea, and even in the worst of situations my guitar has never failed me. As an anecdote I might relate that in the places of the world that have affected me most, I have taken a little soil or dust and placed it inside the guitar so that its soul might capture the essence of the world.

I use the guitar once belonging to Manuel Contreras (1928-1924) to read and study works. It has a captivating sound and a very smooth touch, which allows me to enjoy the music with much confidence. It is the guitar of intimacy with which I explore new paths.

The Vicente Camacho guitar is of robust sound. I have raised the bridge so that I have to pluck the strings with more effort. It´s the one that most irritates me, but also the one that allows me to refine my technique.
