"Guitar, piano and castanets transmit the essence of the emotions of the Spanish and Latin-American music of the latest centuries. That was the target of our former Mediterranean Trio. In this new period, we have fused all this instruments with dance and Mediterranea D & M was born."

Albeniz, Falla, Granados, Malats, Rodrigo are some of the composers chosen for this program, as well as the miscellanea of Latin-American composers, legatees of the Spanish cultural inheritance. Fandango and bulería blend with bambuco, milonga and tango and with composers as Piazzola, Anido and Ramírez.

We are pleased to introduce "Embrujo", a live music and classic Spanish dance show.

Spanish dance is a fine and subtle dance form, but full of feeling, strength and passion.

It is usually performed with dance shoes and castanets that remind flamenco and folklore; however, it is more sophisticated as it includes components of classical ballet.

The expression of the body and the harmony of movements of the dancers in the stage recreate each of the compositions.

Our first dancer, Georgina Marquez, with a vast knowledge in ballet, bolera school and Spanish dance, has created her own choreographies inspired in the compositions performed with piano and guitar. All of the members of this project are highly qualified in his professional career, have sound academic backgrounds and a long list of performances in Spain and abroad.

We started as Mediterranean Trio, playing the works of romanticism and nationalism composers such as Falla, Albeniz, Granados, Rodrigo to mention just a few. The characteristics of our instruments, piano, guitar and castanets, favoured the inclusion of Ibero-American repertoire with composers such as A. Ramírez, Piazzola and María Luisa Anido.

Our stage experience has led us to renovate our repertoire and expand, introducing dance in Mediterránea D&M is formed by: Juan Mario Cuéllar (Spanish guitar), Georgina Márquez and Irene Sánchez (dance and castanets), Andrés Gil (piano).

Since 2006, we have performed in auditoriums, musical festivals, exhibitions, museums and series of concerts such as the ones sponsored by Caja Madrid, Caja Navarra, "Sones 2008", Summer Festival of Olot, "Classical Evenings" in the district of Gracia (Barcelona) and others.

Our international curriculum starts in Pretoria (South Africa), the Spanish embassy invited us to perform in the Groenkloof Auditorium of the celebrated University of Pretoria during the 2008 Ibero-American Festival, where we were highly acclaimed by the public. Qatar was next, we were hired to represent our country and performed in the National Theatre of Qatar, and we were also very applauded and received very good critics.

Composer Silvio Martínez has written "Romance del labrador" (Romance of the Farmer) for our group and this is one of the new compositions we are going to premiere in our next concerts, as well as the themes of our Embrujo CD, coming out soon.

Among the contributions of our group, besides the inclusion of castanets and dance, are the new versions, transcriptions and arrangements of these wonderful works that we have made especially for the show.
